The Department of Linguistics commenced the 2025-2026 academic year with an orientation program opening lecture held on October 1, 2025. The event, which brought together the faculty members of the department and first-year students, took place in a warm and productive atmosphere.
The meeting was attended by Department Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Aydemir, Assist. Prof. Dr. Oktay Çınar, Assist. Prof. Dr. Fırat Başbuğ, Lecturer Dr. Hülya Kocagül, and Research Assistant Zeynep Feyza Erdemir. The newly enrolled first-year students also showed great interest in the program.
At the beginning of the event, faculty members introduced themselves and shared their academic fields and areas of expertise with the students. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to introduce themselves and express their enthusiasm for joining the department.
As part of the program, informative presentations were delivered on the main research areas of linguistics and its interdisciplinary connections. In addition, students were informed about the academic and social opportunities offered by the department, research possibilities, student activities, and post-graduation career prospects.
At the end of the event, symbolic gifts from our University were presented to the first-year students, marking the beginning of their academic journey.
The orientation program not only helped students adapt to the department but also strengthened communication between the faculty members and the students.
