IMU Linguistics students marked the end of the spring term with various events, concluding the academic year. Held on May 28 and 29, the "Linguistics Days" included socializing and a trivia contest.
On Tuesday, May 28, a social gathering took place at the IDEA Cafe in Kadikoy, where students and faculty members bonded and shared knowledge acquired throughout the term. The event provided students a relaxed atmosphere to de-stress academically.
The following day, on Wednesday, May 29, students participated in a trivia contest hosted on the online platform Kahoot. Contestants answered questions related to linguistics, testing their knowledge. The intense competition culminated with Ceyda Ece Mumcu finishing first, followed by Deniz Engin in second place, and Duru Bulut in third.
Additionally, Ceyda Ece Mumcu and Mücahit Köse shared the top prize in the ongoing Op-Ed contest throughout the term. The contest offered students an opportunity for in-depth thinking and analysis on topics in linguistics.
The academic coordinator who organized the events emphasized, "We always highlight the importance of such activities that can develop both the academic and social skills of our students. Our Linguistics Days enabled students to form a more interactive connection with each other and their field."
The "Linguistics Days" also motivated linguistics students for the upcoming academic year with similar activities.
