Contemporary Studies in Linguistics I: The 15th Anniversary Commemorative Volume of the IMU Department of Linguistics, which was prepared on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of our department’s establishment, has been published.
Aiming to make visible the department’s academic development process and the institutional memory accompanying this process, the volume is a comprehensive edited collection brought together with contributions from linguists based in Türkiye and at universities around the world. The chapters included in the book cover a wide range of topics, extending from historical and comparative linguistics to morphology, phonetics, syntax, and semantics; from discourse and text analysis to experimental linguistics, digital research methods, and artificial intelligence–based approaches. In this respect, the volume goes beyond being merely a “commemorative volume” and stands as a collection that brings together the theoretical and methodological diversity of contemporary linguistic research. In addition to the work of the department’s faculty members, the volume includes original studies by many linguists working both in Türkiye and abroad, serving as a concrete reflection of the broad academic network that has developed around the Department of Linguistics.
